What have the Iraq and the Afghanistan wars accomplished?

bonsai asked:

We are now 9 years in Afghanistan and 7 years in Iraq.
Violence is steady, infrastructures are destroyed and the countries are heavens for criminals. What are you thoughts on this bottomless tax payer money drains?
Even most top generals have said, this wars can not be won, this wars are lunatic and this wars are just military testing grounds for useless war toys, nothing else. Woah, is the public misinformed!

What Tina, JB and Aaron said is spot on. However I will say that even thought an evil dictator was overthrown, the US really wasnt in its rights to do so (prob should have been done during dessert storm) as there were no nuclear weapons. Also, look at China and North Korea. Should the US do the same thing to them because they have dictators doing horrible things to their peopl just like Saddam did? Not to mention many other places in the middle East like Yemen were women get stoned to death and heads cut off and stuff.

I support the troops and would like to join the army soon. The biggest prob about the wars is the cost especially with the whole GFC thing. All that money would really help some people going through a tough time now.

I really wish world leaders would gather and just make basic human rights a worldly thing i.e everyone is treated equal and has a right to an education and a fair trial and freedom of speech. Sounds bad but they should make it a universal law and that evil dictators get killed or thrown in jail. Hitler is not dead their are many like him still alive today.
